Milan Fashion Week had ended and now Paris Fashion Week has started… I’m so in love with many French Designs and perfumes… One of my favorites is “Chanel No.5”.

It has such a classic and beautiful scent. Nobody can deny that this is one of the best selling perfumes in the world.

Chanel No.5 was introduced first time at Christmas in 1921. And it has been available for sales since mid 1922. Thanks to the legendary, Parisian couturier, Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel. A person behind the formula and invention was Earnest Beaux… He gathered and collected few pieces of scents and delicately mixed …it finally became “Chanel No.5”.

In 1953, Marilyn Monroe was asked what she wore at night… she simply replied “five drops of Chanel No.5”.

Feel so privileged to own one… simple, yet very classy…

This book is a style guide, Frumpy to Fabulous: Flaunting It… a very interesting and heartwarming one. I love it because it makes the readers feel like we are going through the journey… to become stylish women with confidence and glam-up effortlessly. Well, don’t we all want it?

It gives you step by step guide how to choose your outfit, your color, your look, your accessories …and so on. Everyone has their own style, yes… but does everyone know what is best to put on?… maybe no. That’s why reading this book is so much fun.

You will discover another you in “you”, step into a new look with practical wisdom. Yes, ladies… go for it!

Have fun, ladies!!! This week is all about fashion 🙂

It was such a short vacation, yet amazing and wonderful. We took a flight from Milan to Reggio di Calabria then it was a big ferry that took us to the island of Sicily, or Sicilia (Si-CHEE-Lia) as Italians would say…

There are a few different ways to go from the Airport of Reggio di Calabria to Messina, Sicily.
1. Take a bus 105 (the bus stop is right in front of the airport) to a port of Calabria. Buy a ferry ticket, cost 3.50 euro per 1 person – one way, the ferry will arrive in Messina in about 35 minutes.
2. Take a bus (Autolinee Federico) from the airport to Villa San Giovanni then take a ferry to Messina (be sure to get the one that is going to Messina, not Tremestieri).
3. Take a fast ferry (“Aliscafo” in Italian). It departs from the airport and arrive to Messina directly. The ticket costs 9 euro. The thing is there are very few trips going during the day (6:30am, 9:30am, 1:30pm, 3pm, 7pm)… while other routes go several trips to Messina.

Note: A ferry that crosses between these 2 cities …normally called “Traghetto” in Italian (tra-GET-toh). It is good if you could speak some Italians… believe it or not, even the tourist information staff at the airport does not speak English at all.

We finally arrived in a nice beach town, Messina. That was a closest city to the mainland of Italy… funny enough many Italians would tell you that Sicily is not Italy… they’re joking, of course… but the reality is Sicily is a bit different of the rest of the country… the way people talk, the way people drive (crazy… it’s quite crazy all over Italy, but there …it is intense!!!) Even the food, they would put hot chili peppers in their pasta… We never do that in Milan!!! Anyways… I just LOVE it!
I love hot food, the sun, the sand… and the ocean… it is all good!

Yes, I would go back again if I have a chance— to a wonderful place, Sicily!

A view of a ferry that took us from Reggio di Calabria to Messina, Sicily

“Vos et Ipsam Civitatem Benedicimus” (We bless you and your city)
A big tower in the Mediterranean located between Reggio di Calabria and Messina, Sicily.

There are all kinds of amazing traditional pastries from Sicily… “Cannoli” is one of my favorites!

Pictures from Reggio di Calabria… the mainland, a connection to Sicily

The weather was perfect… warm and breezy… it’s getting cooler now at our home, Milano… I will miss this place, Sicily… what a wonderful trip!

This evening I was in a mood of looking for new and interesting movies coming up this year. While browsing the internet, this movie popped up “Red” … uhmmm… checked the casts; here they are – Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, Helen Mirren and Mary-Louise Parker… awesome! (well, don’t really know but just by looking at the casts, it should tell something, doesn’t it?)

Spoiler: There was a group of ex-CIA… dealing with adjusting to their retirements… the thing was the secret they knew made them a target of their own agency. They were framed for assassination… No way, they weren’t  going to let it happen. They formed a team and used everything they knew to protect themselves and tried to go the CIA headquarter to expose the real bad guy behind this… it will be comedy, action and a lot of action comedy!!! Haha…

Can’t wait to see, I really think it’ll be hilarious! Check out the trailer…

The title may have you think about a love drama from William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet. Well, this version is different. It started with an American girl, Julie Jacob, who travelled to Sienna in search of her Italian heritage. She later discovered about her ancestor from 14th century, Giulietta Tomei, who was involved in love affair and family feud. Those families’ descendants were still living in Sienna and still under the curse of hatred. To investigate what happened in the past, Julie searched through relics, paintings, journals, a ring and a dagger.

It is like a modern adventure and romance story, isn’t it? It is… the story is so much fun to read and discover surprises… Recommended books for this Fall, here is one of them — “Juliet”.
